The Nightingale Centre – The School House Cafe

A very busy start to 2018, which included having the pleasure of installing a Touch Screen at The School House Café in Poringland. The Touch Screen is of course installed with ICR software, Gwen at the venue has had a credit card machine linked to the touch screen.

If you know Poringland very well you will be aware of where The School House Café is, it’s just on the roundabout entering Poringland`s busy village, which is becoming a town I do believe.

Poringland has a vast range of many amenities from hairdressers, shops, takeaways, estate agents, beauty clinics, dentists, opticians, and recently Groundhog Home Hardware also the extremely popular Railway Tavern and now The Nightingale Centre has become The School House.

A little history about The School House:

The school was built in 1840/41 as a one room school with a teacher’s  house attached.

In 1874 the school was extended and became a boarding school, in 1880 and 1889 there were further extensions done, modernisation of this school continued until 1967 when the school then closed.

It then became The Nightingale Centre, which has been run as a conference centre, also Gwen Nightingale has had an excellent team of carers that helps promote independent living at the same time as providing a high level of personal care, the Centre is also known for providing a venue for celebrations.

We wish to take this opportunity to wish Gwen and her great team every success with The School House.

They are in the process of having a new website built but you can follow them here on Facebook

Until next time…

Mandy
