Hi there,

Following on from last week`s Blog post Installations in August 2016, it has just continued to be all work and no play for our engineers and technicians!

From Dabbling Ducks to Leaping Hare`s, this is what we have been up to in and around Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

At the Dabbling Duck there are three owners, two of which are local farmers who stepped into save the lovely picturesque pub from re-development in 2006, the third is Mark Dobby who was brought in to manage the pub in 2013.

Mark has excellent experience in award winning pubs and hotels for over ten years, which has made Mark well-qualified to elevate the Dabbling Duck to another level (and he’s certainly achieved this). Mark is joined by his wife Sally, who is herself no stranger to the hospitality world, having previously been a co-owner of a lovely local bistro for around five years.

Their black Labrador Doris is also a regular in the bar! (you really must meet her), Sally is a professional photographer and you may see some of her prints in the rooms and around the Dabbling Duck.

Wherever possible the produce used in the kitchens is locally sourced often from their own land. At the Dabbling Duck it is particularly proud of its game dishes, and according to the season pheasant, partridge, pigeon, woodcock, rabbit and venison are all prepared on site. You can’t run a successful pub without a great team both front of house and “backstage” and they certainly have a fantastic one!

Most of their employees are also local to this beautiful part of Norfolk, which makes them hopefully able to answer all your questions you may have about the area.

The Lord Nelson, Southwold, Suffolk plate of fish and chips

Cash Register installed, Programmed by ECR

The Nelson as you know it today, was built on the traditional belief that a pub should be a haven, somewhere warm, welcoming and wholesome, a place to unwind in a classless environment, and it certainly is that, set in Southwold it’s just perfect. This is a tradition that they intend to carry forward for as long as the “Nellie” remains in the family.

They offer a wide and varied menu including delicious fresh soups, lovely sandwiches and some hot favourites such as there legendary fish and chips, (a must try for all you fish and chip lovers). All served daily from 12.00 -14.00 & 18.30 – 21.00, but I would always check the website for up to date opening and serving times just in case of any changes.

With the famous Adnams brewery on their doorstep they offer the full range of great beers, and much more, so you really do need to spend time whilst at the Nelson to try them all!
